EMPLOYMENT CREATION

Procurement just like other profession need to contribute towards generation of employment. In my view we have focused our discussions on being employees only. But as general rule employment is not permanent even when you are being employed by public institutions you told that you are permanent and pensionable! But the day you clock sixty you are shown the gate! The experience show that pension is not sufficient to cover living expenses and venturing in other fields you have limited experience contributes to depression. It is important to prepare for retirement and the best time to start is when you get your the first appointment.

I have raised this topic so as to stimulate discussions on how can we utilize our skill to create jobs. The PPA 2011 has number of provisions which favor us such contracting procurement agent; preference, individual consultants etc. Let us emulate of fields- Accountants, engineers, lawyers just to mention a few.
