Though i am in Kenya, i will still share my expreiences with dealing with the ports here. The two main things that stand out for me in terms of our roles as procurement professionals are to:
1. Ensuring proper paperwork which will make you more confident when you proceed to do your clearance
2. Maintain your professional work ethic, mostly in reference to refusing to accpet to bribe someone to clear your goods
There are many pressures you find at the port and the costs as well (esp storage, demmurage), its important to make sure you have a realiable clearing agent who can assist you, who is experienced and who also has similar work ethic as yourself.
Sadly, some people simply want their consignments out chap chap not really bothered about what consequences corruption has on our economies.

it is clear noted that import procedures especially at Dar es salaam port has got many challenges as a procurement professionals what is our role towards these challenges?
