Procurement functions and stores functions are all part of SCM.
Once Supplies are procured (let say in bulk) they need to be stored before they are distributed to user departments

procurement goes together wth stores.coz when you procure in balk it is important to keep those goods in a repspctd location waitng in for consumption.and also it used to reduce cost of oderng several time.

If I have got you correct you want to know the linkage between procurement and stores activities. What I can say the two functions are closely related. Procurement is responsible for acquisition while stores safe custody and issuing materials. Where bulky procurements are undertaken procurement must work closely with store to avoid over or under stocking. That is why Regulation 68 of the Public Procurement Act 2011 states that” proper planning of procurement of recurrent expenditure items must be based on adequate stock control system”. Further, on contract management for goods stores is responsible for receiving of goods after inspection by committee.

In private sector especially in production/manufacturing organizations and trading the two functions are normally headed by one person tilted procurement and supply. In public institutions due segregation of duties the two functions may be headed by different persons.
