Your reply is so nice.nkinyanjui wrote:Institutions with low volumes of procurement should ideally scale down their procurement staff. In the case of Kenya for example, government renummeration is commensurate with your specific job group, irrespective of which institution you are working in. With the growth of the procurement field top level management will have to provide appropriate renummeration, not because we do just as much work as any other officers but because there is a demand now more than ever to have increased accountability in procurement processes.

REMUNERATION FOR PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST
As profession procurement is still in its infancy stage all over the world. It is only recently the field has gained recognition in developing countries. Heads of procurement departments are now sitting in board meetings which imply better remuneration probably equivalent to other managers. I have no doubt with large organization both in public and private sector. My concern is with Government institutions with low volume of procurement. Through sharing experience with other professions I have discovered that majority of institutions have established and appointed heads of PMU in accordance with governing Law of public procurement but, incumbents not treated like other head of departments in terms of remuneration. What is your view and solution to this problem?
